Setting seed

With autumn well on its way, I have been harvesting seeds from my flowers and herbs. This has come about rather from neglect than a deliberate attempt to let the plants go to seed.  It is certainly worth trying to collect seeds for next spring and seeing whether I can save a little on having to buy seeds or seedlings. It makes the garden a little messy seeing the leftover stalks, but I have had so little time getting out into the garden lately, the wildness hasn't bothered me.
I love this description from the  poem 'Ode to the west wind' by Percy Blysse Shelley's

"The winged seeds, where they lie cold and low,
Each like a corpse within its grave, until
Thine azure sister of the Spring shall blow"

Looking forward to those blue days of spring already!
